James Brown
M, #227, Deceased, b. 22 August 1822, d. before 13 August 1888

Biography
- In 1822 James Brown lived in Corsenside, Northumberland, England, The birthplace of James is something of a mystery. Various censuses give a number of places. The best clue is the 1861 census which gives "Northumberland, Cornside" because it's so precise. It's hard to find "Cornside" on a map, but an old gazetteer does mention it and not the modern "Corsenside". Also James is listed in the 1841 census for Corenside. I have chosen to believe they are variations of the same place.1,2,3,4,5
- Cornside & Corsenside: It seems likely that these names are alternatives for the parish more commonly known as "Corsenside" with its church of St.Cutbert, consecrated 1120. See the mentions to these places in the old Northumberland history books referenced. Only Corsenside is referred to in modern piublications.6,7
- He was born on 22 August 1822 in Corsenside, Northumberland, England. (DOB from IGI Baptism record).8
- He was baptised on 21 September 1828 in St.Cuthbert's, Corsenside, Northumberland, England.8
- He married Hannah Ridley on 21 October 1848 in Medomsley, Co. Durham, England.9
- In 1871 James Brown was a Coal Miner.10
- On 3 April 1881 James Brown lived in Puddlers Row (81), Bedlington Bank Top, Northumberland, England, (At the time of the 1881 census he was living with his sister, Elizabeth, and her famil).5
- He died before 13 August 1888. (The marriage record of daughter Elizabeth records him as being deceased at the time).10
- He witnessed the marriage of Robert (Keg) Wilson and Elizabeth Brown on 13 August 1888 in The Register Office, Morpeth, Northumberland, England.10

He then turns up in Sunderland in the 1891 census, but in 1881 we find his wife Elizabeth living with the family, and without William in Liverpool. Where was he in 1881? By 1901 he is back in Liverpool, where apparently he died.1,2,3,4,5,6
