  • William Coxon was a Blacksmith. He was a Blacksmith. (from Jane's burial record, 1802).2
  • The identification of Williams ancestors, and his place within the family tree is still a mater of speculation. However there is an IGI record for a William Coxon, of "Branton, Durham, Northumberland" !! This has to be the Branton near Powburn. It is dated about 1775. No parents given. We know that there were Coxons worshipping in the area at this time. In 1802 at he time of his daugter Jane's death he was a Blacksmith at Glanton).3
  • He was born estimated 1770. (DOB estimated from DOM. William seems to have come down from the Powburn/Glanton area, posibly one of the Brandon Coxons. Son Ralph was born there).4
  • He married Jane Melvin on 22 May 1796 in Edlingham, Northumberland, England.4,5,6
  • He died before 7 June 1841. (He appears to be dead by the 1841 census).7
