As you might notice, my name is David Morgan. My father was Harold Morgan (d. March 14th 2004) and my paternal grandmother was Isabella Wilson; regrettably she passed on when I was about 1 year old. I m not quite sure where that places us as cousins.

Looking at Harold s family, I don t know if you were aware that his brother Robert also bore the Stoker middle name. Dad married Freda Holmes of South Hetton in January 1942 just prior to embarkation for N. Africa; he served in No 4 company, 2nd battalion Coldstream Guards from 1939 t0 1946 (latterly in Palestine we believe). The family from the eldest reads:
Frederick 1946(after Frederick Arthur killed aboard HMS Dasher March 1943 in the Clyde near Arran; there is a story relating to some Wilson family member living not too far away), then me David 1948, Harold 1949, Glenys 1951, Janet, and twins Robert and John.

Looking at the photograph of the first Robert Stoker Wilson, there is most definitely a strong family resemblance with my dad and his brother Robert.

William Coxon

M, #321, Deceased, b. 20 April 1736, d. 21 June 1824

Parents

Family: Susannah Mather (b. about 1736, d. 29 June 1826)

Biography

  • He was affiliated with Presbyterian.
  • William Coxon was a Miller. He was a Miller. (1798 - miller, Overgrass Mill, Swarland, owning 1 cart and 1 carthorse, in Survey of males between 15 and 60 not in military service - Whittingham Parish registers, Lois Saleeba).
  • He was born on 20 April 1736 in Woollaw, Elsdon, Northumberland, England.1,2
  • There is an open question as to whether the link from William of Overgras to Anthony & Jane of Redesdale is valid. It calls for a 2 year error in DOD on William's gravestone, not unusual but not rock solid. Two of his sons were called William and George, the same names as possible father's brothers. But if he was the son of Anthony then he has chosen not to call any of his sons after his father, Anthony. For the time being I have chosen to assume the link is valid, until proven otherwise.3
  • From Lois Saleeba: "This William was born in 1736 at Woollaw, Elsdon parish, became part of the eastward drift of labourers looking for work or a better standard of living, as did his brother George, and other Coxons in Redesdale. From what I can discern the Mathers were already millers at Brinkburn - and perhaps at Overgrass - when William presumably arrived and got work as a labourer. Susannah's parents were both dead, (leaving 4 preteen children) by the time of her marriage to William, so they must have been looked after by family at or near Brinkburn. ".4
  • He was baptised after 20 April 1736 in Birdhope Craig Presbyterian Church, Rochester, Northumberland, England. (No Baptism record has been found to date but an attestation is in the Elsdon Church records, implying Baptism had taken place).1
  • He married Susannah Mather on 21 July 1763 in The Parish Church, Longframlington, Northumberland, England.2
  • In 1768 William Coxon lived in Overgrass Mill, Felton, Northumberland, England. He seems to have moved to Overgrass at this time. According to gravestone lived there for 56 years. Lois Saleeba quotes Bob Green. "-1767 -1779 Living at Overgrass. -1798 Miller, Overgrass Mill, Swarland, owning 1 cart and 1 carthorse, in survey of males between 15 & 60 not in military service. - 1800 William Coxon of Overgrass Mill".5
